Tomorrow it's all about the family, about the here and now.
But today I can't help but feel a little nostalgic for times now long gone. When the greeting "Merry Christmas" was said with pride and meaning, not embarrassment and a half-hearted apology in case of offence. When our Christian nation celebrated the birth of Our Lord and our political leaders meant it when they opened the parliament with a prayer to Him.
Most of all I suppose, in looking at this film produced by our government, I pine for the decency that we once had. I look at our institutions today, the ABC and our Federal Government and they seem to go out of their way to celebrate the opposite of all the goodness that's proudly on show here.
Thanks to Rod, the Vung Tau Ferry Pogo for sending in this clip. Merry Christmas - and if you have memories of loved ones now gone from the time this movie was made you might want that box of tissues handy!
