Government going through your garbage

Thanks to A Tangled Web for the tip.

State Government set to spend $200,000 to secretly audit your rubbish bin

THE State Government is set to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to secretly audit your bin.

Sustainability Victoria has begun advertising for companies to conduct the kerbside audits of more than 1500 bins across the state - with environmental management groups estimating the study will cost taxpayers more than $200,000.

The contents of the bins will be emptied and a team of workers dressed in goggles and gloves will have the thankless job of sorting and categorising the material into groups including aerosol cans, kitchen scraps, nappies, newspapers and e-waste.

Delightful.   One thing you can rely on is the hardline greenies  and their busybody, intrusive, control-other-people's-lives instincts.   And there is no satisfying them.   So don't let them start.  Ted Baillieu, you've got to be joking.

What advantage does Sustainability Victoria get by staking out one family's rubbish on the nature strip versus going through a sample at the tip?
