Treasurer Wayne Swan calls for debt-led recovery at G20

WAYNE Swan has called for more debt-financed public spending to revive economic growth and create jobs in the developed world, suggesting fiscal austerity had failed.

Speaking in Moscow on Saturday at the annual G20 summit of global treasurers and central bank governors, the increasingly embattled Treasurer said the debate about "so-called currency wars" was "completely misguided" and welcomed a global crackdown on tax avoidance by multinational companies.
