The Rudds writers could learn a thing or two from Bob McMullan.
From the good old days when scare campaigns were deployed with deadly accuracy. Who could vote for a man who might kill off meals-on-wheels or close child-minding centres. These are the lessons that Tim Gartrell and George Wright are yet to learn. And Bob McMullan is the man who could teach them.
Bob's now finished up as Special Envoy for Africa having won us the UN Security Council Seat so he's got a bit of time and a notepad.
He handed in his Senate badge in 96 and won the hard-fought seat of Canberra for Labor (fancy that) before retiring from the House in 2010.
Surely Bob's best is on show with Wendy in this ad from 1987.
