The AWU Scandal - Miss Gillard's story about Ralph the property investor doesn't add up
Friday, 12 October 2012
Julia Gillard told her partners in the law firm that she thought it was pretty normal for the property investor/hairdresser-investor/flat-landlord/union-organiser Ralph Blewitt to drop a hundred large on a sight-unseen property investment.
Or that the best and most effective way for Ralph to do that would be to donate a specific power of attorney to the boyfriend Bruce Wilson to try the old lucky-dip method of property speculation.
So according to Miss Gillard, Ralph was a sophisticated investor and she didn't think it unusual.
Well someone at the firm did. When Ralph's name was put forward in an application for a mortgage from Slater and Gordon, the law required that some enquiries were made about his cred0worthiness.
So Ralph's accountant was asked to produce financials from his property-investment-conglomerate.
Here's the accountant's report. One little point. Ralph was rendered incapable of doing anything to buy the place himself, that's why it made sense to Julia Gillard that he'd need to donate his Power of Attorney to Bruce so Bruce could do everything. Then how come he was always good for sending money?
And now, grab a cup of tea, sit by the front window with plenty of light and give yourself plenty of time to analyze the financial statements of the Ralph Blewitt property investory conglomerate.
