The Prime Minister's Press Conference today in Bundaberg

Here's the relevant bit

JOURNALIST: Police have in the AWU investigation have been conducting interviews in New South Wales and Queensland, have police contacted you or your office?

PM: No, I've dealt with that previously and the answer’s still no.

JOURNALIST: Have you taken any legal advice in regards to that investigation?

PM: Once again, I saw, I think, there was a report in The Australian a week or so back and that's all I know about that too.

As you know this is all I do for a living now, thanks for your support, there are several thousand pages of documents that are important in The AWU Scandal and I'll be very busy in making sure that our community and authorities know all about them over the next few months.

The original interview with Craig Thomson - updated with link to my interview on 2GB with Ben Fordham today

You should be able to find the interview here.

We will make this our major thread on the Thomson arrest.

Victoria Police Force has announced the arrest of a man here.

This man is entitled to the presumption of innocence.   He has been arrested and processed, the charges against him are just that, charges - that is allegations.   No one should interpret anything on this site as a statement that presupposes this man's guilt.   He is entitled to put his defence in court.   Good Luck!

BREAKING: Suspended Labor MP Craig Thomson has been arrested by NSW Police..

Mr Thomson's electorate office has confirmed detectives visited his Dobell electorate office on the NSW central coast today but he was no longer there.

His lawyer Chris McArdle has reportedly confirmed his client was arrested.

News Ltd reported earlier today that police were expected to lay charges against Mr Thomson.

Addressing the National Press Club Tony Abbott did not directly comment on the arrest, but said the Thomson saga brought Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s judgement into question.

“The Thomson matter isn’t just about what Craig Thomson may or may not have done,’’ Mr Abbott said.

“It is always about the judgement of the prime minister.

“The judgement of a prime minister who was running a protection racket for Craig Thomson.”

More to come.
