One third of a Queensland town has lost its internet and phone services today due to an apparent mistake from NBN workers.
AAP is reporting workers from NBN contractor Silicar today accidentally cut internet connections to thousands of homes and businesses in Queensland while laying out the NBN.
Councillor for Ipswich Paul Tully told the news wire that workers cut a major cable outside the Goodna telephone exchange, while Telstra described the cuts as being caused by "third parties", but did not confirmed if they were NBN employees or not.
Telstra spokeswoman Jane De Gault told AAP that 2400 homes and businesses have lost their internet and phone connections, which won't be fully restored for three or four days, at least.
"Pieces need to be spliced back together, it's very time consuming," said Ms De Gault.
