Welcome to Small Business, you work long hours and yep sometimes you get financially rewarded for your hard work, but then the bludgers come along and take a good part of that reward for themselves.

Good for him (Michael, not the talented Mr Clare).
I found this song after I watched Ralph's request and it made me think of Michael and the important work he has undertaken.

Uncanny X-Men, 50 years. Scary to think we are more than half way there since they released this song, even scarier to think of where we look to be heading...

The HMAS Sydney is on its way to join the US Seventh Fleet in Japan at the moment, the rest of our Navy is busy finding, locating, picking up, delivering and then going back out to search for more of these bloody boats carrying boat people. New Zealand could invade us and we couldn't do a thing :)
Where's Australia's Military force at the moment - at the beck and call of idiot politicians who can't run the economy, the military, the public sector, or just about anything.
Australia is becoming a joke. I am sick of this ALP government and Julia Gillard plus the 100,000's of parasites hanging on for grim death.

Michael is a man marvel. He doesn't show it and he probably doesn't realise it, but this whole episode is bound to have taken it's toll. That's what happens to decent, honest, determined people who cannot get justice. I hope he takes the whole weekend off and doesn't go near his iphone or laptop. Thanks sauce for stepping up and giving him such a well deserved break.

Thanks Jeff of FNQ for the updates. On my tally that is 423 people met by our Navy over a two day period.
It seems with Gillard illegals are OK (because there is never a mention of them now) but legals on 457 visas are being demonised.
Gillard threw out another diversion this morning, calling for 457 visa holders to be checked by the ATO. Just remember that on 9 March 2012 her government changed the rules to make it easier to obtain 457 visas to gain entry to Australia which in turn gives the visa holders a walk up start to get permanent residency.

Michael you have certainly earned a break. I don’t know how you keep going. I get angry just reading about Gillard and co but at least when it starts to overwhelm me I can escape any time.

I am now whiz with maths nor boating but if someone can review this I would be happy to send this back to author

Surely the Australian authorities will have worked this out, or am I dreaming........!!
I got a call from a friend last night, saying something is not right about that boat that ended up in oz on the way to NZ story. Bit of background on him first. He is an old style boatie, has had boats all his life, and has been up the reef. So he knows a bit about going to sea. He questioned the veracity of the story that the boat came from Sri Lanka and was 44 days at sea with 66 souls on board.
His questions specifically were:
The journey from Sri Lanka to Geraldton, a distance of 2,780 nautical miles as the crow flies, longer if you allow for drift and course corrections.
Let’s be kind and estimate 3,000 nautical miles.
• The fuel required to travel that distance at an average speed of 6kts would have been at least 5,000 litres. That amount of fuel equates to 25 drums of diesel and would weigh in at (150kg x 25 drums) = 3,750Kg.
• Water for 66 people for 44 days at sea (drinking cooking etc) allow 4 ltrs per person per day. (44 days x 66 people x 4ltrs) = 11,616 ltrs and weigh 8,131Kg.
• 66 people would weigh around about 3,960kg.
• Total weight of fuel/water/people close to 15,841Kgplus food/provisions.
His contention is that the boat in question (sponsored by Deutsche Bank) and looked to be about 42 foot long, could not carry enough fuel, water, food and provisions for 66 people at sea for 44 days. Absolutely impossible - it would have sunk before it left the dock!!! So the story of travelling Sri Lanka/Geraldton is absolute bullshit, or perhaps they made a stopover in Indonesia or were resupplied en-route. And remember when they pulled into Geraldton they were only half way to their supposed destination - NZ.

Considering that this miserable government has junked many traditions of parliament over the past 6 years, how come they haven't junked the farcical address of 'honourable'? Name me any politician that has earned this title.

Hezbollah sleeper cells in Australia and the government has been warned of their existence. The question is what are they going to do about it?

More boat people, 457 Visa workers becoming citizens, bloody hell!...
I'm not bitching about our circumstances, just pointing out a problem that exists for people that do things the right way while those that don't, receive the benefits.
My wife who wants to be an Australian Citizen remains on an Australian Residence Visa after almost 10 years of marriage because she returns to her country of birth regularly and for more than the 42 days a year allowed away from me to help the 4 children of her deceased sister, all of whom are still in school. I fail to see how acting in a responsible manor towards ones younger family members even though they are from another country disqualifies my wife from becoming a citizen. Yet if the kids and their father took the dangerous, irresponsible and illegal route and arrived by boat off Christmas Island after destroying their documents the Australian Government would take over my wife's role and she could become a citizen, something she dearly want's.
I guess in another 6 years or so when the youngest of the kids has turned 18 and they have all completed their secondary schooling my wife will have the opportunity to officially become the good Australian Citizen she already is.

While Michael takes a well earned break Andrew Bolt on his blog today has a ripper of a post.
"What Interested Police in Gillard's Interview"
All the links to Ben Fordham and Hedley Thomas,a clear and concise discourse on the Crime Minister's woes which hopefully will put her in the slammer eventually.
I look forward to passing her a burned jam tart through the bars.
