This beautiful tribute from another lady who has brought so much life into the world, answering the call 24 hours a day. Thank you Jane Smith!
Michael,
I have spent the afternoon putting together this musical memorial to Hazel Hawke with a BEAUTIFUL piece of music by Ennio Morricone.
I shed a few tears doing it, thinking of what a wonderful woman she was, so similar to my own mother, long gone and much missed. A woman in the full sense of the word.
It disgusts me that a sociopath like Gillard has attempted to divide our wonderful and egalitarian nation, man against woman, for her own base personal political power. It galls me that she will be going to Hazel's funeral as "our " representative when Gillard is not fit to lick the soles of this woman's shoes.
I hope you will post this piece on Tuesday, and maybe (if I may be so bold as to suggest) that day could be one for the blog to reflect on the political and social values good men and women of all parties hold dear in this country; working together, looking after each other for the common good, trying to find the things that unite rather than divide us, looking after our loved ones without expectation of return and above all remembering our humility through good humour and laughter.
Most importantly, in the final analysis it is the body of our works that matter. No matter whatever humble thing we do. Our body of work expresses itself in the rolling of ourselves through our succeeding generations. I know you will feel this strongly too.
PS, after those lofty words, going to get a bit bitchy! Going through the pictures of Hazel Hawke on the internet underscored for me the facial characteristic we never see with Julia Gillard: an open kindly smile. Instead, we see a learned mask. The human brain doesn't need a university degree in anything to know the difference between good and bad. Two million years of evolution hardwired it deep in our amygdala, along with a fear of snakes and heights!
