Meanwhile the Ruddster improves his position in the polls apparently because of his tough immigration policy. Either 50% of Australians are complete bogans, or there has been next to zero publicity on the fact that his policy has made no difference what so ever.

Michael. Thanks for making this interesting item available.

Broken down and taking on water eh? Seems to be a recurring theme.
Are there not maritime laws that can be enforced for setting to sea in an unseaworthy vessel? Or alternatively, but probably harder to prove for deliberately scuttling the vessel to cause a rescue and transport to Christmas Island?
Labor is now using the excuse that the crew will do this deliberately if Australia attempts to turn the boat back to Indonesia to discredit the coalition's policy.
Or are we just content to offer bounty's for trolley collectors who the AFP are only to happy to see leave the country before they might have to do something about it.
It is totally unacceptable for Rudd to expect Australia to wait months to see if his election stunt will have any effect, thankfully Scott Morrison is across his portfolio. It was a pleasure to listen to him on One-siders this morning.

Barrie Cassidy nearly lost his cool today and Scott Morrison, to his great credit, kept on saying it like it is and did not rise to the antagonism.
Barrie Cassidy is a disgrace!!

Again the Sunrise do gooders are at it again. They simply refuse to acknowledge that most Australians are fed up with this Governments miss handling of our border protection.
I hope most Australians have sympathy for true refugees and are happy to accept them. As John Howard said however "we decide who we take."
What the do gooders won't admit is that very, very few if any of the "illegal queue jumping boat arrivals" are actually refugees.
Not one of Dr Karls examples were illegal boat arrivals. All of them arrived in Australia legally, brought here with our agreement, with the will to make a new life for themselves, and never expected a massive hand out. When will Australian MSM Journolists report acurate accounts of the situation rather than the Left wing Labor spin of Krudd.
Who is Dr Karl anyway? A tree hugging left wing socialist global warming alarmist. Enough said. He had the nerve to suggest he arrived in Australia as a refugee in a boat from Sweden. Someone needs to smack this idiot in the back of the head to remind him a Luxury Ocean Liner is not a boat!!! And that his examples are absolutely irrelevant to the argument.

Rudd claims that he had to dismantle the Boarder protection because the voters gave him a mandate ( in 07) to do it .
( source Interview A Bolt )
He washed his hands of any culpability and lays the blame at the labor voters of Australia as the ones responsible
claims if he had not dismantled the Pacific Solution , Conservatives would have held him to account .
Wonder how his supporters feel about this revelation

I cannot believe that more voters of this country think that labor would do a better job on boat people than the libs.If this is true they are f--king mad.i do not believe that poll.

Once again I am absolutely horrified to hear the leader of the nation, the recycled prime minister of Australia, inform us that Indonesia may be a trifle “unhappy” should we take action to defend OUR borders from the invasion taking place as we speak. It may even lead to war he tells us.
Rudd informs us (Prime Minister Kevin Rudd talks with Andrew Bolt http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/ ) that he expects the invasion to continue and in fact it may presently escalate due to “the criminals wishing to test government’s resolve”.
How long does he think it will take them to research the bed availability in our offshore facilities? How long will it take to Google up the PNG’s lack of commitment to this lame idea? The crooks were rolling on the ground with laughter when they saw other crooks sell our not so bright prime minister the Harbour Bridge. Going cheap, only $500,000,000.
I recall the recent mantra that we can’t turn the boats around because our navy personnel may “GET HURT”!!! And here I believed all this time that our defence personnel enlisted to….. DEFEND. Which not only may entail getting hurt, but some may even get killed. Has this been mentioned to them at the induction? Presently they are gainfully employed by AWTS (Australian Water Taxi Service) and some double as porters. It seems no one mentioned the defending bit to them as yet.
However, on the upside, seeing that our puff powder prime coward of a leader is so protective of our Navy personnel and doesn’t wish to see them get hurt, we may as well disband our the whole thing. No one is taking our Navy seriously anyway. Imagine the savings. And considering that ALL the illegal boats seem to flounder within few miles off the Indonesian land mass the invasion will stop as none will be rescued by our, now retired, Gallant Border Porters.
Problem solved.
Talk about inmates running the asylum, or is it “running the detention centre”?

Yes it has.
Not one single refugee who has arrived by boat since the agreement was made will ever live in Australia.
That's the difference.

Strong performance from Scott Morrison ... had Barrie Cassidy on the run. Also a fairly strong performance from Rudd on the Bolt Report I thought. Both interviews were in hostile territory!!
Albanese has appeared on the Bolt Report recently also ... it must be time for TA to step up to the plate!
If the boats continue to arrive/sink at the current rate the authorities will be hard pressed to keep fishing them out of the drink ... there may be a lot of drownings in the next few months.

That is the worst transcription of an interview ever! Poor form ABC!

PNG is ignorant of this timing and numbers, up to 5,000 per month when they were sold a pup, total of 3,000

It doesn't take to much lateral thinking to work out how to get the boats towed back. If 77yr old granny can think up a number of solutions that uses Indonesian fishermen and won't involve boat scuttling I don't know where all those great ADF strategists are. What is more it will cost a lot less than all those units with ensuites on Manus. How much do you think the people smugglers pay the poor fishermen?

I have real concerns about these 'polls'. Yesterday I answered my phone to an automated voice poll regarding my voting habits - no identification of the company's official name. I had no idea who I was listening and no opportunity to query as the voice track did not allow any interruption - in fact I could not get rid of the call. I hung up, annoyed at the lack of authenticity, and several minutes later picked up the phone to dial out and the voice was still asking questions!!! I'm 57 and resentful at this anonymous intrusion - had it been a 'real' person I would gladly have answered. My kids (25,22,19) on the other hand would happily have gone along with the automated message and when asked, they said it would not have occurred to them to query who was calling. So my question is- are only Gen x/y/z actually answering these calls and therefore skewing the demographic?
Michael do you know what the guidelines are re phone polling?
