After the 4.30 news Sydney Live on 2GB - how I found out Indonesian authorities had bugged my home phone in Jakarta
Thursday, 21 November 2013
We'll have a yarn about a few crazy months in Jakarta in 1998 when I was the Presiden Direktur of PT Jastrindo Dinkamika, a national telecoms operator licensed across the Indonesian Archipelago.
One of our major customers was the PT Freeport mine operated MacMoran and Indonesian interests in Irian Jaya.
I was asked by senior Indonesian military officials to allow our systems not only to be intercepted (which was harder to stop than to put in place) but also to switch certain users access on and off on the directions of the military.
I was also advised that my home phone was bugged - I'll tell Luke how that came about.
