Good workers, good employers and great relationships where people make great things

A really thoughtful gift at just the right time speaks very highly of the giver and the receiver.
What dad wouldn't be proud to bring this home at the end of his last shift before Christmas - and what family wouldn't love it!
Reader J's son works for a Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting Joint Venture producing iron ore - ore that's turned into steel to make people's lives better. He was moved enough to take a photo of his hamper for his dad.
Here's reader J's note to me:
G'day Michael
My son works for a Rio Tinto/Hancock Prospecting joint venture in the Pilbara, fly-in fly-out.
He's not a member of any union nor has he been approached to join (which he won't).
To my knowledge there has been no industrial action of any sort in the time the mine has been operating and obviously the operators appreciate the work their employees undertake.
The bonus they give their workers if they meet their shift production targets is a chocolate bar for the worker who has the best extraction/loading effort for the shift.
He sent me a photo of part of a Christmas hamper that each employee was presented with when he finished his night shift.
No monetary bonuses required for doing their jobs but a great thought from the company at Christmas.
Bit of a difference to GMH etc.
Cheers
J
