Senior Labor people talk about Labor and union officials who steal, cheat and lie

Remember when the RSL used to be the last line in defending tradition?

Great work by Ben Fordham on 2GB yesterday for exposing what many have known for a while - the Returned and Services League is being taken over by people who have lost their way.

The few WW2 Diggers still able-bodied are being told they can't march behind their historic Unit's banner on ANZAC Day in Sydney basically because of OH&S concerns.

Instead they will be 'clumped together' and their banners banished to the back of the parade.

Critics claim the move denigrates diggers and the history of their banners, which are decorated and labelled and help identify the different areas of the army for those attending, including family and friends.

But the NSW RSL recently issued the edict for safety reasons. It said elderly diggers or the public could be put at risk if it is windy, as many battalions had as little as one or two members now.

Yeah, let's insult the old men and women - but at least we looking after their safety.

Or was it the ABC asking for the banners to go because they get in the way of the cameras and make the telecast difficult?

The late Rusty Priest ran the NSW RSL for over a decade and was a good mate. I was given the honour of delivering a eulogy at his State Funeral last year.

Rusty warned that the organisation was being gradually taken over by people who were PC and had lost focus.

Turns out, maybe he was right.
