Ralph Blewitt returns to be charged over The AWU Scandal - and give evidence against co-offenders
Wednesday, 16 April 2014
Hedley Thomas and I report in The Australian today that Ralph Blewitt has agreed to return to Australia for a formal police interview under caution and without an indemnity against prosecution.
“I don’t have a problem with being charged over these matters because my original promise in 2012 still stands; I want to do this to put it to rest once and for all,’’ Mr Blewitt said. “It is important to me that the Australian public be made fully aware of the full story. A criminal conviction does not concern me at 69 years of age ... if the court decides on a custodial sentence so be it.
“I’m not getting any immunity from prosecution. But I will help the police and continue to co-operate with evidence in relation to the co-accused.’’
The story is on the front page of The Australian today.
