Disgraced former MP Craig Thomson finds a new job and new trouble, insists he’s no lobbyist
HE’S back — and disgraced former federal Labor MP Craig Thomson wants to know what you think.
The fallen politician has re-emerged as a consultant for a property developer while he awaits his appeal after being sentenced to three months’ jail over his porn and prostitutes scandal.
But the former Dobell MP yesterday said he was a researcher — not a lobbyist — who was responsible for testing public opinion for different industries in his new role at central coast consultancy Wickerman & Group.
“We’re the new Newspoll,” Thomson joked to The Daily Telegraph.
“It’s nice to be out of the spotlight. There is no permanent employment. I do research stuff.

This is the quiet life doing public opinion research for good and reputable projects. We’re not a lobbying firm.’’
In March Thomson was bailed after being found guilty over charges relating to him using union funds to pay for prostitutes and porn while an official at the Health Services Union. He said his appeal was due to be heard at the end of the year.
But his new role, working alongside former ALP Wyong mayor Neil Rose, has already landed him on the wrong side of one local councillor, independent Greg Best, who is considering complaining to ICAC.
