Can you imagine the ABC referring to expert witnesses in any other court report as "supporters"?

Take any expert you like - doctor, haematologist, ballistics, fingerprint expert - independent experts give professional, dispassionate evidence to courts every day.   Where that evidence tends to make out one side's case does the ABC refer to the expert as a "supporter"?

Professionals are presumed to act professionally unless the facts suggest otherwise.  Mr Agostinelli was the HSU No 3 branch's external auditor - he is a professional company auditor, highly qualified and present to give expert evidence about the external audits he performed on Ms Jackson's branch.

Mr Agostinelli was not called as a Jackson supporter, he was called as the external auditor of the branch.  Ms Holt was called because from the mid 1980s to 2010 she was the book-keeper responsible for preparing the branch's financial statements and accounts.   Ms Wilkinson was called because she was the Vice President of the branch and an external independent member of the Branch Committee of Management.

It is demeaning and inaccurate to present people who are called before the Commission to render expert opinions as "supporters" of any cause, rather than what they are.
