I'm told that the star witness summonsed to appear - Mr Craig McGregor is on the stand
Tuesday, 17 June 2014
Happy days for those who aren't keen to see Mr McGregor taken to task in the Commission this afternoon, the web-streaming "failed" as he was called to the stand.
I have exchanged text messages and phone calls with the Commission - here is the Commission's media team's response:
Transcript will be available later. A computer overheated in the hearing room causing tech issues
More later - I've asked that a video recording of the proceedings this afternoon be released to the media.
This is most unsatisfactory. This man's evidence is among the most important the Commission has heard to date, it goes to the heart of the concerted campaign of false allegations made against Kathy Jackson. This man has made substantial unfounded allegations in public against Ms Jackson and this afternoon he is being held to account for it. The Australian people are entitled to see him in the witness box - there's no doubt that it's in the interests of those who are protecting Williamson and other miscreants that this man's examination under oath be kept as far from public view as possible.
I hope the Commission might see fit to release a video tape of the examination.
At 2.56PM I am told the Royal Commission has adjourned for the day. Kathy Jackson will take the stand tomorrow.
