Corruption inquiry told of Sam Dastyari’s role in Health Services Union campaign
NSW Labor powerbroker Sam Dastyari was at the centre of a campaign to install the ALP’s preferred candidate as the new leader of the Health Services Union in place of now convicted fraudster Michael Williamson, the royal commission into union corruption heard today.
Mr Dastyari, who was previously the ALP’s NSW secretary and is now an opposition senator, was credited today with running the campaign of HSU official Gerard Hayes and with being responsible for the payment of $103,000 in funding costs for Mr Hayes’ campaign.
