Michael Wong, journalist has been called

Michael wong at commission

Michael Wong has been sworn.   He describes a career as a professional journalist and editor who worked in various media roles after completing his degree.

He states he was a media professional rather than a political operative.

He states he was brought in as a contractor for 5 months to assist the Press Secretary of the TWU Mr Seth Tenkate.   Mr Wong stated that he had no political background and was brought in solely for his journalism expertise.

He states he reported to Mr Tenkate and Daniel Mookhey - and occassionally to Tony Sheldon directly.

He states that he worked on the Peter Biagini campaign in Queensland.   He was then working fulltime for the New South Wales office.   He was very explicit in stating that he was working for the NSW Branch using NSW resources at NSW expense.

He said he was living in the "animal house" in Queensland, a rented townhouse with others.

He states Tony Sheldon, Michael Kaine and Scott Connolly were the chief architects of the Biagini campaign.   He also states that Michael Williamson was involved in organising the campaign along with Angela Brown who joined the campaign on Michael Williamson's orders.

He is being shown a series of apparently complex documents purporting to show transactions which describe adjustments to leave credits owing him.   He states it was "fake" and that it was set up to pretend he was on leave but he really wasn't.

Mr Wong is being cross examined by Counsel for the TWU

Counsel for the TWU might be regretting some of his questions of this bloke.

The Commissioner has gently advised Mr Wong as to how best to answer questions.   Mr Wong remonstrated with the Commissioner which was exceptionally unwise - the Commissioner finally said, "Mr Wong, control yourself."

This is not a useful exchange.

Amid collective sighs of relief Mr Wong has been excused.
