The Royal Commission's HSU hearings continue. Very early in the day!
Friday, 19 September 2014
David Eden, a nurse and President of the HSU Victoria No 1 Branch has been sworn and is in the witness box.
Mr Eden is giving evidence about the Right of Entry tests allegedly sat by Kimberley Kitching/Peggy Lee on Diana Asmar's direction.
Mr Eden has given evidence that he sat his Right of Entry test in Melbourne at 9AM on 26 March 2013. Apparently his mobile phone records strongly suggest that he was in fact in Bendigo. This is very difficult to watch, rather like a train crash.
Mr Eden is persisting with sworn evidence that "I sat my own Right of Entry Test".
Mr Stoljar asked Mr Eden if he is aware of the penalties for giving false evidence to the Royal Commission. Mr Eden said he is aware of the penalties. Mr Stoljar is now putting direct allegations to Mr Eden, that he did not do his own test, that Peggy Lee did the test on his behalf - Mr Eden persists in his denials of those assertions. His evidence is now that he did the test himself, but it might have been on a different day from the day nominated on the form.
Mr Eden just made a dreadful claim about Marco Bolano that does not bear repeating.
At 9.01 he was excused. Counsel for the HSU did not wish to examine Mr Eden. Speaks volumes.
