No name yet in the witness box?
The Commission resumed at 1205PM
The Commissioner referred to appearance by Counsel for Mr McAllum at 9AM and the private hearing that followed. A private ruling was issued during that hearing - it will remain confidential.
At 1210 Ms McNaughton called her first witness - Natalie Croghan, contract manager at Mirvac for the Pad Two project.
Ms Croghan has described the chain of command she was a part of at Mirvac. She was involved in managing the details of contracts, data entry etc but did not have authority to approve payments of invoices.
She worked in the head office of Mirvac in Brisbane. Mr McAllum's work station was a metre or so away from Ms McAllum.
Ms Croghan gave evidence that she would have processed invoices for payment at the direction of her superiors including Mr McAllum for invoices including relevantly an invoice for tickets to the CFMEU's Fight Night when the invoice described works for excavation.
Ms Croghan said a large number of Mirvac employees attended the CFMEU Fight Night.
St. George said:
It would appear from Ms Croghan's evidence that several people within Mirvac knew, or should have known about the flagrant false invoicing Mirvac paid, including for the provision of benefits enjoyed by Mirvac employees such as attendance at the CFMEU Fight Night/rock-excavation.
Damning evidence from the person who saw and managed each of the apparently dodgy invoices.
St. George said:
At 1.05PM the Commission adjourned for lunch - returning at 2.05PM
AT 2.05PM the Commission resumed - Ms Croghan in the witness box.
Ms McNaughton pressed Ms Croghan on the identity of the person who signed the authority for Mirvac to pay on "contract variations" such as those which related to the CFMEU Fight Night or the Hanna House that Mirvac Built.
