ABC acknowledges inaccurate news report about Julia Gillard and the TURC

On 31 October 2014 the ABC ran stories like this:

A viewer complained that a story inaccurately stated that the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption had issued an interim report, when it was actually a summary of submissions from the counsel assisting the Commissioner.

Audience and Consumer Affairs response:

The ABC acknowledged that reasonable efforts were not made to ensure that material facts were accurate and presented in context.

The complaint might be finalised, but the stories and headlines like the one above are still online.

It is now well and truly open to the Commissioner to ignore Counsel Assisting's submissions on Mr Shorten. In any case, it's way too early to talk about anyone being cleared of anything in the AWU Eastlink Thiess scandal.

Or the Workplace Reform Association.
