Turnbull on Abbott - Newspoll on Turnbull "He will cease to be Prime Minister and he'll be succeeded by Mr Shorten"

Turnbull said he had to roll Tony Abbott because if he didn't, Shorten would win the election.

Now if we continue with Mr Abbott as Prime Minister, it is clear enough what will happen. He will cease to be Prime Minister and he'll be succeeded by Mr Shorten.

Sure that was Mr Abbott you were talking about PM?   What you failed to factor in Malcolm was that over time people would get to know you.   The more they do, the better the odious Shorten looks - and that says so much about the pair of you.

Never before in the field of empty ambition has so much been lost by so many for one ego.

Newspoll: Malcolm Turnbull in danger as Bill Shorten lifts

Bill Shorten’s standing with voters has jumped to a 12-month high, underpinning Labor’s election-winning lead in Newspoll as Malcolm Turnbull’s support has continued to tumble.

The latest Newspoll, taken exclusively for The Australian, shows that after the first two weeks of the election campaign the government has been unable to claw back Labor’s two-party-preferred lead of 51 per cent to the Coalition’s 49 per cent.

And the massive approval enjoyed by the Prime Minister in the early months after he replaced Tony Abbott last September has been wiped out, with Mr Turnbull’s net satisfaction rating now the same as for the Opposition Leader, at -12 points.

With six weeks to go until polling day, the Newspoll represents a two-party swing against the government of 4.5 per cent.

If repeated on election day with a uniform swing, it would suggest about 23 Coalition seats would be lost and Mr Shorten would lead a Labor government with a narrow majority.

ENDS - more at The Australian.

How much more material could Turnbull have wanted to nail Shorten in the public consciousness as a thieving, corrupt, lying grub?   The take-down of Shorten should have been one weekend's homework for a politics rookie after Shorten's character was laid bare at the TURC.

But Turnbull has no judgement, ANFI as to what course is right, what causes are worth getting behind or what standards of behaviour are appropriate for political leaders.

So rather than attack and remove Shorten for the benefit of the nation - Turnbull's chosen to show his magnanimity by befriending him.

Malcolm's mates with Bill, knocking around together grinning like long lost school buddies comparing notes about girls.   Now that Shorten has the official Turnbull seal of good-character-approval, it's worth looking again at Turnbull on Abbott and Newspoll on Turnbull:

He will cease to be Prime Minister and he'll be succeeded by Mr Shorten.

What an unmitigated disaster for Australia.
