Greens Lin Hatfield Dodds starts creating the new society as Deputy Secretary of one of Turnbull's Monstrous Departments
Thursday, 28 July 2016
On 8 May this year we published a detailed post about Turnbull's decision to appoint his close friend and former Greens Senate Candidate Lin Hatfield Dodds as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Social Policy.
The appointment was made in May but not announced (then or now) we only found out about it through an inadvertent disclosure in a Senate Estimates hearing. The Government of Turnbull timed Hatfield Dodds's commencement date for after the election campaign.
Well she's there. No official announcement. No media. No press statement. And as far as I can see no other public confirmation (beyond Turnbull's revised and frightening org chart) that Ms Hatfield Dodds has commenced to build our new society.
So here it is!
THE Organisation Chart for Turnbull's mini-empire within the empire that is the Government of Turnbull.
This is in addition to the Special Ministers of the Crown advising the Prime Minister on pet topics.
His DPM&C is like its own Mini-Turnbull-World within the real world of Ministers and Departments.
Turnbull's close personal staff - his Media people, political advisers, support team etc are in addition.
So instead of Turnbull say ringing up Julie Bishop for foreign affairs advice, he has his own mini foreign affairs department within his own DPMC.
Bizarre.
First Martin Parkinson, the world's greatest Secretary who needs 4 secretaries (by any other name) and 9 Deputy Secretaries to keep his in-tray neat.
Let's start on the left hand side of the DPM&C organisational chart (above) and work across. You reckon this is going to be painful to read? Try writing about it!
The 1st of the 9 Deputy Secretaries is David Gruen, Economic.
His Department on the left and my approximation of the Ministers and their departments he duplicates on the right (with Turnbull looking over their shoulder).
Turnbull Mini-World Empire no 2 - creating the new society - Lin Hatfield Dodds.
There is (of course) a Department of Innovation in DPM&C.
A Government Governance Department.
National Security - bereft of fair dinkum advice on Islam because National Security has nothing to do with......
Two more Deputy Secretary level bosses doing national security - note nowhere is there an advisor on how to deal with Islam at all while Aborigines are very big Turnbull business.
And then a dead-set army of people spread across the country 'doing things' for Aborigines. Of course, as always, this is in addition to the Aborigine specialists in the Minister's Department and the other armies of Aborigine specialists in every other department. Fair dinkum!
Note also that the Aborigine department in Turnbull's Mini World has an Associate Secretary title and a box in the org chart that's elevated above the mere Deputy Secretaries. OK!!! GOT THAT!
I have done quite a few jobs sizing up businesses for reform.
I would relish to chance to go line by line through Turnbull's costs.
What an unconscionable waste of money, spent in the pursuit of magnificence.
