Pauline Hanson proves the Senate can move quickly - Ahmed Fahour's obscene pay packet

Thanks for the update Underminder.

He bought the Invergowrie manor two years ago for just over $20 million.

As well as a new pool and landscaped garden, the Australia Post chief executive has applied to expand the internal area of the colonial gothic-style riverside homestead, which was built in 1846 for James Palmer, the first Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Council.

Then known as Burwood, the Coppin Road estate was later owned by theatre entrepreneur George Coppin, and was also used as a ladies’ finishing school.

Agents often tout Invergowrie and the mansion next door, Avon Court, as Hawthorn’s two most expensive residential holdings.

Avon Court last sold in 2014 for about $19 million after undergoing a major renovation and extension.

Surrender - on this day 75 years ago

We were absolutely flabbergasted. I can remember the reactions from various fellows: some of them just swore, some of them threw things about, some of them were just silent and shocked.
Captain Ray Steele, 2/15th Field Regiment

For the many thousands forced to surrender, the experience was bewildering. The chance to fight had been denied. Pride in their fighting abilities had abruptly turned to frustration and anger, or simply the inability to comprehend. Thoughts of friends and family were never far away, and hopes of reunion gave many men and women the strength to go on. The following years would become a fight for survival.

NSW RSL Council agree to stand down - but only if charges against them are withdrawn

The NSW RSL chiefs have agreed to stand aside while a caretaker administration is appointed - but if and only if the charges against them are withdrawn.

Great work, guts plus from the fighting men who've already authorised $100,000 of their members money being spent on their legal defence.  A legal defence against the investigation of allegations they've been spending members money on themselves.

Dear Members,

I have been asked by the State President to update sub-Branch members on the current situation with RSL National.

Yesterday State Council passed the attached resolutions in an attempt to resolve the dispute with the National Executive and ensure that an independent investigation into allegations that have been made can proceed without delay. Under the proposal that has been made to the National Executive:

  • RSL NSW State Council will voluntarily stand aside on an interim basis pending the results of a Board of Inquiry into allegations of financial misconduct;
  • Major General David MacLachlan AO will be appointed as caretaker of the NSW State Branch to act in all matters on behalf of the State Councillors during this period; and
  • the National Executive will withdraw all charges against RSL NSW.

We are waiting for confirmation from the National Executive that all charges against RSL NSW have been withdrawn so that the caretaker can be appointed.

RSL NSW State President, Mr John Haines AM, said: "We are committed to a full and frank investigation into the allegations which have been made so that our members can have complete confidence in the integrity of those elected to represent them.

To this end RSL NSW has resolved to establish a Board of Inquiry and the investigation being undertaken by KordaMentha will be a key input into this inquiry."

"The NSW State Council will co-operate fully with the inquiry," he said.

Yours sincerely,

Jeff O'Brien

Lionel Nation with Charles Ortel & latest on Clinton Foundation fraud investigation/prosecution

This September 2016 request from me to Senators will help illustrate what they're talking about.

Australian Senate Enquiry into Australian Government Donations to the Clinton Foundation

I have asked several Senators to cause our Senate to use its powers to order an Enquiry into the "pay to play" allegations concerning the Clinton Foundation and the Australian Government's donations to it.

Here is some of my submission.

Senate Enquiry into “Pay to Play” donations from the Australian Government to the Clinton Presidential Library

Executive Summary

Since 2006, the Australian Government has donated around $100 million directly to the Clinton Foundation, one of America's 13 Presidential Libraries.

The 13 libraries were established and are operated under the following US legislation:

Controversially, about 5 or 6 years into the Clinton Foundation's life, the directors of the Clinton Presidential Library began to exploit the privileges and to interpret the provisions which apply to all Presidential Libraries so broadly that the original purpose of the foundation has been obscured.

The Clinton Foundation was founded 3 years before Clinton left the White House by 3 citizens of the former President's home state Arkansas. Its statement of purpose and the approvals for it to operate as a charitable tax exempt foundation were the same as the 12 other Foundations established under the Presidential Libraries Act.

During his presidency Clinton famously debated the meaning of the word "is".

He continues his presidential tradition of semantic debates with the Clinton Foundation's unique interpretation of what operating a "Presidential Archival Depository" means.

Initially the Clinton Foundation  "honoured the legacy" of the Clinton Presidency.

Clinton extended the meaning of honouring the legacy into continuing the "work" of his Presidency.

By the time Clinton started soliciting donations from Australian taxpayers, honouring the Clinton Legacy included a range of dubious activities with suspect partners around the world - including lobbying foreign governments to assist Clinton Foundation donors to buy uranium mines and other continuations of the Clinton Presidential code of personal conduct.

Last night in discharge of its charter duties, the ABC brought us a Muslim child prodigy.

She bears her exclusion from mainstream society and the denial of a voice in this country's affairs stoically.

As this biographical note demonstrates.

Yassmin Abdel-Magied - Panellist

Yassmin Abdel-Magied

Yassmin Abdel-Magied is a mechanical engineer, social advocate, writer and 'petrol head'. Debut author at 24 with the coming-of-age-memoir, Yassmin’s Story, the 2015 Queensland Young Australian of the Year advocates for the empowerment of youth, women and those from racially, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Yassmin is passionate about making 'diversity' the norm. At age 16, she founded Youth Without Borders, an organisation that empowers young people to realise their full potential through collaborative, community based programs.

Yassmin was named one of Australia’s most influential engineers by Engineers Australia, and has been recognised for her work in diversity by the United Kingdom’s Institute of Mechanical Engineers. The youngest woman named in Australia’s 100 Women of Influence by the Australian Financial Review in 2012, Yassmin was the Young Muslim of the Year in 2007 and Muslim Youth of the Year in 2015.

A sought-after advisor for federal governments and international bodies, Yassmin currently sits on the Boards of ChildFund, The Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) and the domestic violence prevention organisation, OurWatch. She is the Gender Ambassador for the Inter-American Development Bank and has represented Australia through multiple diplomatic programs across the globe.

You can also find Yassmin presenting on TV, currently hosting ABC's weekly show, Australia Wide. She is a regular on Q&A, The Drum, The Project, and internationally on the BBC. On radio, Yassmin is a regular on Triple J's Hack, Radio National, and moonlights as a casual broadcaster on ABC Local. She is the host of the motorsport podcast Motor Mouth, and is the host for the groundbreaking documentary The Truth About Racism, due for release in March 2017.

Yassmin's TED talk, What does my headscarf mean to you, has over 1.5 million views. Yassmin has written extensively, her writing appearing in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, AFR, The Griffith Review, Huffington Post and others.

The sought-after-advisor-for-federal-government-and-international-bodies was a bit feisty.

She remonstrated somewhat with the Senator from Tasmania Jacquie Lambie.

Index fingers were deployed at 5 paces with host Tony Jones supervising the duel.

Who knows who prevailed in the gladiatricial theatrics.

Perhaps we'll need to tune in to the next episode to hear what the judges thought.

There was one clear winner to the money spinning exercise.

Advertisers funding the ABC's non-commercial (as in it keeps the profits) commercial-partner Twitter.

And Twitter.  All that fury and noise, all those customers, all delivered free of charge courtesy of the Australian taxpayer.

Amongst them was another helpful Muslim promotions-department enlistee Ms Mariam.

Ms Mariam was on message during the height of the online seeming, as this very comforting statement suggests.

Well might it be a very comforting statement for the incurious and easily comforted.

But it is also stunningly incomplete, misleading and deceptive.

Muslim leaders in fully Sharia compliant jurisdictions have a somewhat different view from the people in PR.

So did beheader in chief Muhammad, the illiterate Arab to whom an Angel appeared bearing dictation homework from Allan (could be a typo, will someone get Gabriel to check pls).

http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/quran/loyalty-to-non-muslim-government.aspx

In Islam, loyalty is to Allah and his religion. It cannot be to a kafir country. As the former mufti of the Grand Mosque in Mecca put it in a recent fatwa, "His homeland may not be Islamic, so how can he be loyal to his homeland?"

Scholar Jamal Badawi (a favorite of CAIR) insists that, "Muslims should not melt in any pot except the Muslim brotherhood pot."

Recap Erdogan, the Turkish leader who began his country's transition from secularism to Islamism in thuggish fashion said, "You cannot be both secular and a Muslim! You will either be a Muslim, or secular. And why is that? Because Allah, the creator of the Muslim, has absolute power and rule."

A CAIR executive director (in the United States) recently said, "if we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land."

The Calcutta Quran Petition says of Muslim communities that "even fresh converts tend to become highly orthodox people and follow the sayings of [the Quran] with a fanatical zeal with the result that whichever country as their sizable number amongst its population can never have peace on its soil." Where Muslim minorities exist, there is unusual social strain manifested by dissention, demand and disloyalty - as well as a cohesive group identity that resists self-reflection and thrives on the perception of victimization by the majority.

Islam teaches that nations are in one of two major categories - Dar-al Harb (house of war) and Dar-al-Islam (Muslim rule). Any nation that is not Muslim is therefore, by definition, at war with Islam (or, at best, in contradiction to the preferred order). Muslims cannot be expected to maintain loyalty to a nation that is at war with their religion.
