45 days for filing in my private prosecution of serious offences arising from the AWU Scandal

Private prosecution of serious crime is rare in Australia.

It's difficult, costly and the Director of Public Prosecutions can take the prosecution over at any time - and drop it.

I'm getting plenty of help from people who want me to know my prosecution will go nowhere.

And lots more letters, comments and emails that say our justice system is broken or corrupt.

I beg to differ.

Every Australian is a part of our justice system.

I wasn't raised in a corrupt nation.

If the people who are paid to police and prosecute aren't doing their jobs - we can.

Here's an extract from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions policy guidelines:

The right of a private individual to institute a prosecution for a breach of the law has been said to be "a valuable constitutional safeguard against inertia or partiality on the part of authority" (Lord Wilberforce in Gouriet -v- Union of Post Office Workers [1978] AC 435 at 477).

Anyone can launch a private prosecution of the type I'm bringing.

Justice must not only be done - it must be manifestly seen to be done.
