New Zealand's Prime Minister has told APEC leaders that climate change is the greatest challenge facing this generation.
Speaking at a roundtable on sustainable development at the economic forum in Vietnam, Jacinda Ardern says everyone needs to work to address global warming.
Ms Ardern says New Zealand will have an impact in tackling climate change despite its size, and urged world leaders to abandon fossil fuel technologies.
'It is my responsibility to take a lead role on climate change,' she said.
A target of zero-carbon net emissions and the establishment of an independent climate commission is on New Zealand Labour's list of 100-day priorities.
'My challenge to you all is to join us on that journey and leave a legacy we can all be proud of,' she said.
