Fairfax says Jim Molan backed down from Adam Bandt after what Fairfax called their "feud" this week

This was the headline on Fairfax websites this morning (thanks to Jason Morrison for pointing it out).

After Adam Bandt's disgraceful slur against Jim Molan this week, Jim said he'd sue unless Bandt apologised.

After Bandt's petulant, smart-alec first "apology", Jim phoned Bandt (like a man!!!) to make clear precisely what he wanted Bandt to do to avoid being sued.

That phone call was just prior to this interview on Melbourne's 3AW

I thought his apology was far too weak, and I was very disappointed,” Mr Molan told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive.

He said that although he had an “extremely large chance of being successful” in a law suit against Mr Bandt, he had had a phone call with the Greens firebrand 10 minutes prior to the 3AW interview to offer Mr Bandt the opportunity to put together a more heartfelt apology that “admitted his error”.

Mr Molan also suggested Mr Bandt offer a “significant contribution” to an appropriate charity for veterans.

Jim got what he was after from Bandt - an apology and the promise of a donation.

How could anyone say Jim in any way backed down?

It's a real insight into the Fairfax mentality to see the way they think about it!

Greens - good.  Army General with exemplary global war service record - bad.

The facts - irrelevant.
