With the Blewitt trial about to get underway in Perth and the exquisitely-timed GILLARD perjury prosecution imminent we are at the beginning of the end of this AWU Scandal odyssey.
I've been digging very, very deep to find the strength and drive to push on after these 6 past years. I often find it in the words of others, like Churchill and last week our own Sir John Gorton.
Just months after the end of World War II, local orchardist and former RAAF flight lieutenant John Grey Gorton was chosen to speak on behalf of local returned men at the welcome home dinner at the Mystic Park Hall in Kerang, rural Victoria.
“We did not go to war to make a new and better world. We cannot expect to make a new and better world as the result of the exercise of brute military force. We can only expect to achieve the kind of world we want by the use of brains and effort during peace.
“It was not wasted. We got what we went after. We retained a system of government in which we, the people, choose our governors, dismiss them when we wish, and have a voice in our own destiny. We retained a conception of justice in which the humblest one among us has equal rights before the law. We believed those principles were worth defending, not because in themselves they provided all that could be desired for human happiness but because we believed that we could only advance to a full and satisfying life for all if we retained the freedom on which to build.
We, the people, choose our governors, dismiss them when we wish, and have a voice in our own destiny..... (in our) conception of justice the humblest one among us has equal rights before the law.
Lots of men died fighting for those ideals. Our moment has come. Are we worthy of their sacrifice?
I have substantial new evidence to publish about the abuse of the Orphans and Widows fund - used by Gillard as a travel slush fund and to cover work done on AWU Workplace Reform Association. The timing will be ours, not hers.
I will soon be standing before the Registrar of a Court in Australia with sworn Information for an Offence (criminal charges) naming GILLARD as the defendant.
But I can only keep going with sufficient financial support to pay for my lodging, keep, travel and other expenses.
Thank you to the true believers who think this is worthwhile.
I do, and I will do everything in my power to justify your faith in me and our way of life.
