Bill Thompson on the scene of Melbourne's trade union takeover this morning
Wednesday, 10 April 2019
Bill caught the start of the CFMEU's march into town.
Stiff luck if you wanted any building work done today.

And you're also out of luck if you thought the Premier of the State or his CFMMEU/Labor Government would protect the capital from the union takeover.
He was leading the push.
Ably supported by Labor and the unions comrades in arms, The Greens.
Bad luck if you run a business, if you're a courier, a customer or tourist.
This augurs very badly for our future under the uber-trade unionist, Bill Shorten.
Treasurer Scott Morrison has ridiculed Bill Shorten’s vow to bring a trade union mentality to the prime ministership, warning: “We all know what they do with credit cards in the union movement.”
In a pre-election manifesto penned by the Opposition Leader and released today, Mr Shorten says he is proud of his background as an AWU organiser, despite Coalition attempts to “smear” his past through the royal commission into trade unions.
Arguing that his tenure at the union, including six years as national secretary, taught him to solve problems and balance competing interests, Mr Shorten says he will draw on this experience if he becomes prime minister in July.
“As Labor leader, I still think like an organiser. Whether it’s dealing with the rising influence of vested interests or solving a community-level problem, empowering people is the key,” he writes in For the Common Good, published by Melbourne University Press.
“Relationships are crucial: get people to come together, define their position and work from there. Don’t begin with a pure ideological solution. Take account of all viewpoints.
“When everything is done on a more equitable basis, you (are) creating better outcomes.”
