GetUp seems to know the identity of 2 men wanted by police over offensive anti-Abbott posters
Thursday, 16 May 2019
Last week NSW Police issued this public appeal for information that could identify two men wanted in relation to offensive anti-Abbott posters placed around Manly, NSW.
Early yesterday (Wednesday) morning I received a pretty credible tip about the identity of the two men.
As a result I sent this email to GetUp's boss as well as its Chief Legal Counsel Zaahir Edries (more about him later!)
Just over an hour later - this missive lobbed!
I know it says that the letter's not intended for publication, but I figure many people would prefer GetUp never published most of the signs and posters they whack up, and GetUp goes ahead and publishes them anyway! So I'll take GetUp's lead!
I decide what's published on this website thank you very much and I think it's in the public interest that you should know what GetUp has to say for itself!
Now one line in that letter jumped out at me!
Paul Oosting must have at least some idea about the identity of the blokes in the police video because he wrote:
....the men (in the video) are not our staff and in no way connected to GetUp.
Lots of people are connected to GetUp.
But Paul Oosting can rule out that the two blokes in the video are amongst them.
Given that NSW Police are keen to speak with these fellas, I wondered if Mr Oosting was proposing to give the rozzers a call and let them in on his knowledge! So I sent him this follow-up email.
Can you believe I'm still waiting for an answer?
More soon!
