NSW Labor wants to become honest, go straight and drop its "whatever it takes" culture. So it's having a review.

One of our readers, Ken just emailed me this great comment!

Michael,

Will Albanese investigate -

Gillard’s evidence to TURC, covering up theft of many hundreds of thousands more?

Evidence to TURC about Shorten short-changing workers?

Gillard and Wilson stealing from Orphans and Widows?

It’s time to let the sunshine in.

Today, we have announced a Review into NSW Labor’s Head Office and administration (more information here).

This will be led by distinguished former Commonwealth Attorney-General Professor Michael Lavarch.

He will have free rein to recommend changes to the role of the General Secretary, Administrative Committee and governance procedures for donations.

The Party will enact these changes.

Members like you deserve a Party that lives up to its high ideals every single day.

You can make a submission until 5pm Friday 25th October, by emailing [email protected].au.

As Attorney-General during the 1990s, Professor Lavarch vetted judges to our nation’s highest courts.

He commenced the Stolen Generation Inquiry that led to the National Apology; he reformed the Racial Discrimination Act; and overturned laws criminalising homosexuality.

He is Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman; and previously the Secretary-General (CEO) of the Law Council of Australia.

So he brings the independence and rigour this Review needs.

This is about a new era of transparency and accountability for NSW Labor into the 2020s.

Here's another review into NSW Labor from the Rudd/Dastyari era.

Not all that different from this one.

Highest standards.

Zero tolerance.

Strong oversight.

The Labor Party reacts to polls and publicity - it's not guided by ethics and morality.

That's what's sick at the heart of the Party.

And no amount of reviews will fix that.

This is an email from Sam Dastyari to the party faithful today.

Subject: Announcement on reform

Dear XXXX,

Later on today, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will announce a significant package of reforms which will see NSW Labor implement the highest political governance standards of any political party across Australia.

The package will be released in more detail this afternoon.

As the Party rules cannot be altered without holding a Conference in NSW, the rules will be changed by the Federal Executive of the Labor Party on behalf of the NSW Branch and ratified at the next NSW Labor Annual State Conference.

It's time for the Labor Party to focus on the future and not the past, and this is what these changes do.

I'm confident that the thousands of members of the Labor Party who have been waiting for the reform process to move forward will be very happy with the changes being made.

I will email you later today with further details.

Yours sincerely,

Sam Dastyari
NSW Labor General Secretary

President Trump invites Little League kids for a burn on Air Force One with him

I'll let Jeff of FNQ tell the story!

The Little League World Series Champions (from Louisiana) met with President Trump in the White House on Friday. Then President Trump surprised the team and invited the La Eastbank All Stars to fly with him in Air Force One back to Louisiana where he was holding a rally. Then tonight at the Lake Charles rally President Trump invited the kids back up on the stage.

President Trump will be reelected in 2020 because of his ability to bypass the gatekeepers of the mainstream media and connect directly with people like this.

It's heartwarming and lovely to see such great values of teamwork, generosity of spirit, good humour and family values on display.

Good for them!

Integrated toilets, segregated swimming-pools - you know it makes sense

Remember when boys and girls went swimming together and wee'd separately?

Thanks to The Left we now toilet together but swim along gender lines.

Welcome to Woke World.

During October, there will be a female-only session between 5.30pm to 7pm every Saturday and a male only session between 5.30pm to 7pm every Sunday.

Canberra Muslim Community president Mainul Haque welcomed the trial, saying women in migrant communities were often reserved and the privacy of women-only sessions would encourage more to attend the pool.

"The main challenge is keeping our communities healthy and getting them involved in physical activities," he said.

"How do you do that? Give them the confidence they need.

Mr Haque said more members of migrant communities needed to learn to swim.

"Most of the drownings in summer time at beaches are migrant people," he said.

Mr Haque said he hoped the trial would become permanent.

But some have criticised the scheme, saying they had no idea it was happening, or why, until they were turned away at the door.

"This information is hidden away at the bottom of their website and we were clearly not the only people who had missed it, as many others were also being turned away that evening," a Canberra mother said in a letter to the editor.

"My daughter, in tears, couldn't understand why it was 'boys only'. Like many Canberra parents, my husband and I are trying to raise our child to believe that her gender is not a barrier to anything and to not be self-conscious about her body.

"How can we do this when public institutions blatantly turn her away because she is a girl?"

An ACT government spokeswoman said the one month trial was introduced to provide more inclusive pool access for Canberrans.

"The ACT government is respectful of those from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, and this is an opportunity to provide pool access to those who may not have been able to access it previously," she said.t is important that all Canberrans have access to aquatic venues so that they can develop the necessary confidence and skills to be safe in and around aquatic environments.

"The trial was advertised around the facility, via social media and on the pool's website. Feedback from patrons will be collected throughout the trial."
