RIP Kevin (Frosty) Frost. Gone at 45. I served with Frosty as part of Sniper Platoon at Tactical Assault Group - East. Another brother abandoned behind the enemy lines of bureaucracy by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). DVA is a system that is designed to make you fail. It is a national disgrace unworthy of the word ‘veteran’ in its title. How can a country as progressive as Australia let its children return home from war and find that killing yourself is a more practical option than trying to get the support needed? The politicians that comfort themselves with their self appointed pay rises and lavish lunches need to be prepared to pick up the pieces after our sons and daughters have finished fighting their arguments for them.

Suicide is the most extreme situation a veteran will face, yet Australia’s Minister for Veterans Affairs Darren Chester openly states that he can’t “see the point” into a Royal Comission on veteran suicide. That’s what not doing your job looks like Darren.

Frosty is another casualty in the struggle of us versus the system. It’s the biggest battle service men and women need to be ready for when they put on a uniform, and I can’t believe I’ve written those words.

Please sign and circulate this petition calling on the Australian Government to launch a Royal Comission into veteran suicide and the lack of support and recognition given to this issue. This request has been ongoing by the mothers and fathers of this nation since World War 1.
