Unions NSW is running a survey to find out what makes union members pay union dues .

Here are some of the choices

Gender Equality

Environment (incl climate change)

Migrant Worker Issues

Industrial issues is last on the list.

Isn't that why unions exist?

Tells you a lot about why only 1 in 10 workers in the private sector belong to a union (source, RBA).

When I was doing 12hr shifts in a veneer mill that had a higher than 100% injury rate, I recall many times (in between micro sleeping on the road on the way home) asking myself "have we got the gender equality balance right?" or "could we be doing more to combat climate change?"
