Black Lives Matter protests: Activist's gaffe on Winston Churchill statue - this is the Chair of a police advisory group

In an interview on Channel 4 News, Lambeth Independent Police Advisory Group chair and community activist Lorraine Jones said she wasn’t sure if the statue of Mr Churchill should stay.

“I’ve heard many arguments on both sides. Some say that he’s a racist. Some say that he’s a hero,” Ms Jones said.“I haven’t personally met him.

“But what I would say is that that question of whether he should remain should be put to the community.”

The 60 Minutes expose on Labor corruption

I don't know how Therapeutic Albanese can say there are no federal implications - a great deal of the video-recording took place with Somyurek in a federal parliamentarian's office in Parliament House, Canberra.

The computer in this shot has a federal parliament house intranet screen open.

Statement from Labor's President Swan on Somyurek

They moved quickly on Somyurek.

The National Executive Committee of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) met this afternoon to consider the request by the Victorian Labor Leader, Premier Daniel Andrews, to expel Mr Adem Somyurek from the ALP.

The conduct of Mr Somyurek is reprehensible and at odds with everything the ALP stands for.

Noting that Mr Somyurek has now resigned his membership of the Victorian ALP, the National Executive Committee has taken further steps to ensure that there will never be a place for Mr Somyurek in the ALP ever again.

The ALP National Executive takes these matters incredibly seriously, and will be responding to the wider issues raised over the last 24 hours in the coming days.
