On 23 November 2020, a Twitter account entitled "Truth2Upeople" published the offensive photo, with the comment

New work by 乌合麒麟 from Weibo

'Truth2Upeople" or 齐天大圣 claims to be a business and IR student at, amongst other things, Auckland University.
