RAN chief commemorates Aboriginal week - forgets about Armistice Day
Wednesday, 11 November 2020
It's now 1230 hours on Armistice Day 2020, one and a half hours after the formal marking of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Admiral Michael Noonan is the chief of the Royal Australian Navy and Twitter is his communication medium of choice.
He's chosen to publish a message about the Navy's 'commitment' to valuing and recognising Aboriginal identity, culture and history.
He's published a message of solidarity with the notion that Australia always and always will be Aboriginal land.
But nothing about Armistice Day.
Three hours ago the Chief of the Defence Force sent out this message.
In 1918, following four years of devastating warfare, the guns on the Western Front fell silent. Today, on #RemembranceDay, let us honour the memory of those we never had the privilege to meet. #LestWeForget https://t.co/0RlqJ1ymNQ

General Campbell has even updated his Twitter page to include a Remembrance Day message as his header.
It's scandalous, inexplicable and inexcusable that the Chief of Navy didn't follow his boss's lead.
The Service Chiefs have considerable taxpayer staffs available to them.
This is a snub.
Lest We Forget.
