“An ABC 7.00pm news bulletin says 18,500 people were killed in the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Apparently, there was no internal fact checking, editorial oversight, producer supervision, or logical thinking.

One viewer complains and the ABC finally publishes an apology on its website.

Yes, the deaths occurred but they were caused by the earthquake and tsunami.

No 7.00pm apology for being totally wrong.

You can’t tell me that bright, intelligent writers/producers/management/researchers at the ABC accidentally let a mistake of that magnitude escape.

They got what they wanted – promoting the message that nuclear power kills.”
