A SENIOR Central Coast police officer has been suspended from duties and is being investigated over an alleged relationship with a bikie gang member.

Brisbane Water Inspector Kath Hawkins was stood down after details of the romance were brought to the attention of senior officers.

Insp Hawkins is being investigated by the Professional Standards Command of NSW Police.

A source familiar with the investigation said Insp Hawkins had been accused of allegedly downloading confidential police information and sharing it with the bikie.

He claimed she also went on a trip to Fiji with him.

When contacted for comment, Insp Hawkins said: “It’s not true — you can print whatever you like.”

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed Insp Hawkins was under investigation: “The matter is subject to an investigation and no further comment is appropriate.’’

Insp Hawkins has not been charged with any criminal offence.

The Police Integrity Commission declined to comment and refused to say whether they were investigating the officer.

Sources said the alleged affair with the bikie was being talked of among police as a case of “sleeping with the enemy” .

A former NSW officer said he was concerned Insp Hawkins would be offered a pension and the claims against her “swept under the carpet”.
