Why is SBS dedicating taxpayer dollars covering issues Cleo and Cosmopolitan magazine have done to death?
The SBS charter, contained in Section 6 of the Special Broadcasting Service Act 1991, states:
The principal function of the SBS is to provide multilingual and multicultural broadcasting and digital media services that inform, educate and entertain all Australians and, in doing so, reflect Australia's multicultural society.
SBS spends 300 million taxpayer dollars each year.
Just like the ABC, SBS thinks it has to be a lifestyle competitor to the commercial world.
Next time you hear them whinging that they can’t service the Arabic speaking community or remote living Aboriginal communities because of lack of funds - keep this one in mind.
