From Ralph Blewitt who writes:

This is a treasured photo of Elisabeth "Liz " and Ruby in Melbourne on one of my many trips - this one January 2013.

Liz took care of Ruby; they went shopping together and to Liz's home for the day while I was with my lawyers going over evidence about the Julia Gillard, Bruce Wilson AWU Fraud.

RIP Elisabeth 🙏

Thanks for being there for us all these years.

You will be sadly missed -  our condolences to Jane and all of your family.

Much love,

Ralph & Ruby Blewitt

Terrible news with the death of our reader Liz of Vic. Rest in Peace Elisabeth Vogels, 18 March 1930 - 18 April 2024

I'm broken hearted at the news that Liz of Vic has gone to God.

Elisabeth Vogels was a founding member of this website and had been immensely generous in her support to us.

Elisabeth's daughter Jane shared this note with us on behalf of the Vogels family.

I wanted to let you know Elisabeth  passed away peacefully on Thursday evening.

My brother Hans arrived from Adelaide just a few hours before and had a chance to be with her.

It’s been a difficult few 2 months with Ma in hospital for severe dehydration and then rehab.

We were able to share her 94th birthday on 18 March at home before she moved to aged care.

The staff at Arcare Malvern could not have been more caring and thoughtful and Ma won many hearts there with her constant thanks and humour.

People have negative ideas about aged care but our experience was a good one. Nothing was too much trouble.

Ma had a lovely room on “The Ritz” level - as you may know she loved the good things in life and we all loved visiting her there.

Rest in Peace Elisabeth, we'll light a candle for you.

Huge mistake from Peter Dutton.

We're adults.

We understand free speech and its limits.

We can make up our own minds without government censorship thank you very much.

Huge mistake here Peter Dutton, siding with Labor.

Huge.

I support Legacy - here's a reminder for all of us!

I was born 17 years after World War Two and both my parents were born during the war.

Heaps of the families we knew were Legatees - ie the dad had either been killed during the war or had died after it.

Legacy holds a special place in Australia's heart.

I know several families now who are left behind after a parent was recently Killed In Action, or after the death of a Veteran.

Here's how to donate to Legacy.

Lest We Forget.
