Is there a more banal gesture from a politician in the middle of a natural disaster than the mandatory ‘thoughts and prayers’ tweet?

Perhaps this useless bag of shit could deploy Commonwealth resources to assist in the clean-up rather than waiting for the call.

Perhaps he could immediately extend some tax relief to businesses in the region.

Perhaps he could put pressure on the insurance industry not to screw people around and to provide incentives to get tradesmen into the affected areas to help reconstruction.

But instead …thoughts and prayers.

Utter waste of space.
